Steph started cooking for Oakland in 2020, got her permit, and spent six years feeding this neighborhood — weekly meals, dinners, pop-ups, catering, and baking, all under one roof.
Baking wasn’t love at first sight. The precision of it made her nervous. Somewhere along the way it became the thing she loved most: a handful of simple ingredients turned into something that makes somebody’s day.
Running all of it at once stopped being sustainable for one person. So she stepped back, looked hard at the work, and kept only the part she is best at.
ButterBingButterBoom Bake House is that decision. Pies, cookies, cakes and bread. Nothing else. Made by hand in a permitted Oakland home kitchen, in small enough numbers that every one of them is right.
How it works
- Order by Wednesday. The week’s bake goes up Sunday night.
- She texts you to confirm. A real person, not an autoresponder.
- Pick up Friday or Saturday in Oakland, and pay then. Cookies, bread and jam can ship anywhere in California.
Why the name
Because it sounds like what happens when butter hits a hot pan, and because she wanted something nobody would forget. Say the whole thing — it only works whole.
